Hi there, I’m Makay and welcome to my Junk Journal. I have had a love for writing my entire life. Up until this point in my life, I struggled with finding an outlet to share my writing and thoughts. I’ve tried books, I’ve tried just sharing posts of my writing on Instagram and other social medias- but none of it felt authentically me. I needed my own space to share my writing, and thus Makay’s Junk Journal is born.
To give you a quick idea of where I am in life- I am currently in my junior year of architecture school and will begin applications for my masters of architecture within the calendar year. I hope to attend masters school somewhere in the northeast- probably Boston but I could also settle for New York- but I will be applying all over the country. Who knows where I will end up! After I complete my Masters of Architecture I hope to go on to work in commercial architecture, mainly focusing on school and public community spaces. I don’t stop at the building, I also have a love for interior design and decoration.
While I absolutely love and adore architectural design and my degree- I’m a multi-faceted person with many other hobbies and skills! I am inherently a very creative and crafty person. If you can’t find me- I’m probably crafting. I love to crochet, film photography and digital photography, making collages/mood boards, doing fun and funky makeup, doing puzzles, and making jewelry. I have a lifelong history of picking up hobbies for a year or so and then moving onto the next (its the ADHD) so to name a few of hobbies I abandoned: making polymer clay jewelry, baking and decorating cakes, making yarn ball toys (? hello), being a musical prodigy, and a sock monkey collector.

I also love to shop (on a broke college kid budget) and thrift. I collect glassware, crystal, and ceramics primarily through thrifting, yard sales, and antique shops. I love jewelry and shoes and bags and fragrance and makeup- you get the point.

I started this blog to share lessons I have learned, opinions on fashion, beauty, and architecture, tips and tricks for architecture students, personal experiences, crafting ideas, my growth, and anything else my little heart desires! Along with my blog posts, you can also find a photo gallery where I share my photography and a portfolio to showcase some of my projects.
I hope you stick around to learn some more about me, and maybe learn from my mistakes along the way. Welcome to the junk journal!
